NFL Celebrity Waiter Nights
We all tend to forget that and treat most professionals as physical specimens or celebrities rather than genuine individuals. On Monday night, August 24th at Morton's in Scottsdale, Arizona, a group of over 220 lucky fans and local celebrities got a reminder of just how human the athletes we love to watch are.
It was the Larry Fitzgerald and Friends Celebrity Waiters Night at Morton's in Scottsdale. The event gave all in attendance a chance to mingle with their favorite Cardinals players while enjoying fantastic cuisine. Celebrity Waiters including Kurt Warner, Darnell Dockett, Anquan Boldin, Antrel Rolle, Matt Leinart and of course Larry Fitzgerald, among others, traded in their Cardinal red and white, for Morton's black aprons and served up not only the signature cuisine and fine wine, but conversation and laughs to the evening's patrons.
The players' jovial attitudes, the attendees' excitement and the venue's motif of fantastic Cardinals inspired art and red and white table settings, gave the occasion an energy that more closely resembled a Sunday afternoon at University of Phoenix Stadium than a Monday night at a fine dining establishment. Fans were abuzz as they took pictures and held conversations with their favorite gridiron greats. They even managed to get the players to sign anything they could find, including menus from the evening. One woman in attendance managed to get the players to sign the back of her white blouse. Another had her black cast, empty upon her entrance to the event, covered in silver signatures by night's end.
As players served appetizers and wine, the pro-Cardinals crowd filed through the area designated for the silent auction. Items such as concert tickets, autographed jerseys and footballs and special trip packages were up for auction.
The Morton's fund raising event generated over $100,000 on behalf of the Carol Fitzgerald Memorial Fund, a fund established by Larry Fitzgerald Sr. and continued by Larry Jr., in honor of his mom Carol Fitzgerald's life work, helping individuals who are struggling and in need of financial support within the community. Carol passed away in 2003 at the age of 47 from breast cancer.
